About the Work
An array of highly saturated colors depicting abstracted rock formations and foliage from my recent trip to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO. We walked a quiet trail to an outcropping of magnificent rock. The view was spectacular, but the bright purple thistle and distorted pinions were as impressive if you took a moment to pause and look.
Field Exposures, Nos. 01–08, a series of small mixed media paintings exploring landscape through memory. Each work considers memory as a kind of delayed photographic development, retaining traces of color, atmosphere, and observation while allowing the original image to shift to express an intimate detail, rather than a broader view.
