About the Work
Some memories retain their shape while others become distorted through repetition. In Electric Blue, the landscape has collapsed into a series of overlapping forms, as though the same impression has been exposed more than once. Electric blue traces the distortion, pulling the layers forward until the center begins to resemble an opening—almost a mouth. I like the ambiguity of it. The landscape is no longer something being observed from a distance; it seems to be looking back, or perhaps speaking.

Field Exposures, Nos. 01–08, a series of small mixed media paintings exploring landscape through memory. Each work considers memory as a kind of delayed photographic development, retaining traces of color, atmosphere, and observation while allowing the original image to shift to express an intimate detail, rather than a broader view.
