About the Work
Of all the colors I remember from Garden of the Gods, I became unexpectedly fixated on the yellow grass. Against the blue-gray sky, dark rock, and muted vegetation, it was subtle but remarkably beautiful. In Daylight 64, that small observation became the focus. The composition sits slightly off balance, as though the image shifted during exposure, yet the effect feels calm rather than unsettled. Sometimes what is retained in memory isn’t the most spectacular part of a landscape, but the quiet detail you couldn't stop looking at.

Field Exposures, Nos. 01–08, a series of small mixed media paintings exploring landscape through memory. Each work considers memory as a kind of delayed photographic development, retaining traces of color, atmosphere, and observation while allowing the original image to shift to express an intimate detail, rather than a broader view.
